When Siloh’s single mother went missing at the age of nine, Siloh was found without food or water in a cave on Sandscape and taken in by an unnamed, masked vigilante traveling alone. The traveler taught Siloh the ways of the sand, educated her on the Sand Creatures, and even spoke about the ancient myths as though they were facts. Siloh remembers them as extremely smart, powerful, and surprisingly alone.
Whenever Siloh reached the age of 18, the masked warrior told Siloh they were in search of something so powerful that even the Titans would tremble if they were to reach it. Their only reasoning for wanting this item was to make sure it didn’t fall in the wrong hands. The masked warrior shared their map with Siloh – the only map of Medusa’s lair to exist in all The Seven – an invaluable piece of information that pirates, creatures, sorcerers, and all were in search of. Siloh wouldn’t let them leave without her, so they agreed to let her join.
One night on their journey, Siloh and the masked warrior were traveling along Sobek’s Canyon when all of a sudden an ear-piercing shriek was heard from the dark cave on the opposite side of the canyon. The masked warrior immediately looked Siloh in the eyes and told her to run with the map as far as she could without looking back. Tears in her eyes, Siloh ran faster than she’d ever run for what she thought was about seven or eight miles. Siloh waited in a nearby cave for the masked warrior for two days before feeling the need to move on.
She looked at the map and realized she wasn’t far from Medusa’s lair and trudged on. It started with ancient Greek-like ruins, then led to a rocky cave with images on the wall depicting humans with snake heads, snakes with human heads, and other monstrous beasts. Siloh reached a large opening where there was a waterfall of sand on the far side. She stepped through the sandfall and came upon a crawlspace. Above the crawl space read, “Εδώ βρίσκεται η γενέτειρα των τεράτων,” which translates to, “Here lies the birthplace of monsters.” Siloh stepped forward, ripping off a piece of her shirt and tying it tightly around her eyes. Her heart pounding and sweat dripping, she remembered her masked teacher’s words, “Feel the pulse of the earth. Use the sand at your feet. Listen to the drum of your opponent’s heartbeat. This is how you win. This is how you slay your enemy.”
